Congratulations and Well Done to Two 2014 SLHS Graduates
Riley Gruber, SLHS’s 2014 Valedictorian, has been accepted into the prestigious UNR Honors
Program. The Honors Program is a highly competitive academic program that seeks to provide students who are both academically talented and highly motivated with an undergraduate education that nurtures and promotes their ability to think competently, understand deeply and act ethically. Students are selected for this program based on high academic achievement, outstanding leadership ability and demonstrated interest in academic and career goals. Riley will undertake a challenging curriculum of honors courses while participating in academic, professional and social opportunities and completing an Honors undergraduate thesis.
Chase Johnson, 2014 SLHS graduate, has fulfilled a dream he first had when he was in the seventh grade band class at Carson Valley Middle School. Chase is a proud member of the Louisiana State University Tiger Marching Band. After submitting an audition tape, Chase was invited to the LSU band camp where he competed against 325 musicians for a coveted spot in the band. Founded in 1893, the LSU band is one of the most famous and preeminent university marching bands both nationally and internationally. If you happen to be watching a LSU football game and they show the marching band, look for Chase and his saxophone.
