As usual, Sierra Lutheran High School’s Track & Field program is one to watch this season. So far, multiple school records have been broken for individual performance: Grace Bonafede, Long Jump 15′ 7.5″, Triple Jump 34′ 1.5″; Zach Ferenz, Discus 143’6″; Kristy Missamore, Shot Put 33′ 10.5″; Briana Mofhitz-Faieta, Pole Vault 7′; Blake Ranalla Triple Jump 39′ 9.5″. In the Girls 4x800m Relay, Elaina Marchegger, Taylor Davison, Emma Herron, and Clare Davison broke the school record of 10:39.50.
The SLHS Track & Field teams will be competing in Regionals on May 13th-14th, at Yearington High School. The boys team has won regionals since 2008, competing for their 9th Regional Championship in a row this year. In total, the boys team has won State four times (2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014). As the teams move on to the State meet at Carson High School (May 20th-21st), the Sierra girls team is competing to win both Regionals and State for three years in a row. The girls program has already won the State Championship three times (2012, 2014, and 2015).
