From the desk of our SLHS Athletic Director:
Hello! My name is Eddie Shope and I am currently the athletic director, football offensive coordinator, and the men’s golf coach here at Sierra Lutheran. I grew up in the Carson Valley and attended Douglas High School in Minden, NV where I played 10 years of football from Pop Warner through High School, 8 years of baseball, and golf professionally. After high school I graduated from the Professional Golfer’s Career College in Temecula, CA and qualified through the first stage of the 2010 US Open. I graduated with my Secondary Education Bachelors Degree at the University of Nevada, Reno in English and Social Studies. Sports are a beneficial avenue that promotes growth in stress reduction, camaraderie, accountability, leadership, self control, goal- setting, and problem-solving skills. When kept in the proper perspective never should sports crowd out time with God or become more important than seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness. “Christian athletes, coaches, and fans should be filled with the Holy Spirit and display the Spirit’s fruit, no matter where they are, be it on the court, on the field, or in the locker room.” This is why I love being a part of the Sierra Lutheran team!
