SLHS Prayer Group exists to bring the cares of SLHS before God is in prayer. It strives to thank God for the gifts He has given and intercede on behalf of the school, staff, students and parents as issues arise. Each week, we praise God for one of His attributes, pray specifically for our own children, and pray over
the general requests under each of the categories of SLHS, Faculty, Staff, & Board, Students, Parents/Guardians, and Sports & Activities.
We would love for you to join us in weekly prayer for SLHS, whether as part of our group or individually.
Our weekly format is organized so that an individual can lift up in prayer, the same weekly requests as the on-site group, in a time and place that works best for them. The general requests are organized by the week of the month and category. For example: the first week of each month, we pray for the W1 requests under each category. The second week of each month, we pray for the W2 requests, and so forth, so that we cover each of the requests, student grade levels, and Faculty, Staff, and Board members, about once a month. We have been blessed to see first-hand this living and active truth from
SLHS: How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! Ps. 133:1
• W1 That God would provide a hedge of protection around our students and staff, including
break time, lunch time, and travel to and from school.
• W2 That our school with have a positive school spirit with teachers encouraging one
another, healthy relationships between teachers and administration, encouragement and
support from parents and students.
• W3 That our school will function in a God-honoring way, as a beacon on the hill, with
integrity and grace.
• W4 That our school would be bold in our faith and have a positive impact on our
community.
• W5 That God would provide physical and spiritual protection for our school against all
attacks.
Faculty, Staff, & Board: As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of
God’s varied grace. 1 Pet. 4:10
• W1 That teachers would recognize each student’s struggles and strengths, recognizing that
each child is a unique creation of God, and celebrate their victories.
• W2 That they would not grow weary in well doing, particularly near the end of the year, that
their commitment to excellence and discipline will not wane.
• W3 That those teachers going through difficult personal issues will seek the Lord.
• W4 That the staff will be aware of and prevent any harm to students through ridicule.
• W5 That the administration and board will make wise decisions regarding curriculum, rules,
hiring, and have the best interest of the students at heart, that they would use Biblical standards
and not be influenced by relativism and humanism.
Students: Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.
W1 Freshman, W2 Sophomores, W3 Juniors, W4 Seniors, W5 Alumni
• W1 That students would have a desire to learn; that they will be motivated to do their very
best in their school work.
• W2 That they will have good relationships with their teachers; that they will find favor in
their teacher’s eyes.
• W3 That students will speak out for what is right with a gracious attitude.
• W4 That students with difficult family situations will receive Godly counsel, healthy
friendships, and compassion from their teachers.
• W5 That students will not close the lines of communication with their parents and/or
teachers.
Parents/Guardians: And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season, we will reap, if we do
not give up. Gal. 6:9
• W1 That they will maintain a keen interest in what is going on in their child’s life at school,
that parents will be willing and helpful participants in earning their PIP hours.
• W2 That they will be supportive of authority when proper disciplinary action is necessary.
• W3 That there will be a good working relationship between parents and staff at SLHS.
• W4 That God would provide for their physical, financial, mental and spiritual welfare.
• W5 That God would protect marriages and strengthen and provide for single parents.
Sports & Activities: And endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Ro. 5:4
• W1 That our student athletes, coaches, and families would represent Christ well on and off
the track, field, court, & green.
• W2 That God will protect our student athletes from injuries.
• W3 That God would protect our student athletes, coaches, and families as they travel to and
from events.
• W4 That our student athletes will have healthy balance in their lives.
• W5 That the coaching staff will be aware of and prevent any harm to student athletes
through hazing or ridicule.
