Here are ways parents can complete their PIP hours:
1. Volunteer Time: Parents can volunteer for various opportunities based on their skills and availability.
2. Fulfill a Direct Need: If unable to volunteer, parents can fulfill specific requests from teachers or contribute to events like the Dinner Auction.
3. Pay the Lump Sum: Parents have the option to pay for their PIP hours. Each PIP hour is valued at $15.
PIP opportunities include working at the snack shack, decorating for events, bringing food for bake sales or helping in the office. Specific skills such as photography, fundraising, event planning, networking, and football chain-gang are also welcomed. Please see Mrs. Sever or email her at psever@slhs.com regarding your PIP hours.
Parents/Adults are required to fulfill PIP hours.
- First enrolled student: 15 hours
- Second enrolled student: 10 hours
- Third enrolled student: 5 hours
- Fourth or more enrolled students: 0 hours
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Throughout the school year we offer many types of ways you can volunteer. This can be in the form of actual volunteer hours on campus, or specific financial contributions. If you are not able to complete your hours, you will be charged at the end of the year for the balance of hours needed.
WHAT IS THE CHARGE?
This ratio is $15 per one hour. Our preference is of course to have parents and guardians to volunteer to help our school. It helps us get to know you better.
WHERE CAN I VOLUNTEER?
PIP opportunities arise throughout the year. Sign up for our Falcon Times and keep an eye on our weekly issue that gets emailed every Fridays. You can also see our SIGN-UP page.
MOST NEEDED:
We are in need of volunteers for our athletics department. This includes tasks such as taking stats, working at the snack shack, and selling tickets at home games. To sign up for volunteer hours, we are using SignUp.com, an online tool for signing up and receiving reminders. You can find the link and instructions on how to use this feature in the footnotes of this letter. Please note that volunteering at volleyball games is scheduled through the coaches.
EVENT COMMITTEES:
We have a few committees throughout the year that bring our biggest events to fruition. These opportunities will be found through the head of the School. The Golf Committee puts on our Annual golf tournament. The Gifts of Grace Committee works tirelessly towards our biggest yearly event, the Dinner Auction. If you are interested in being a part of one of our committees, please contact Petra Sever at psever@slhs.com.
PIP IDEAS: Here are some ways parents have completed their hours in years past.
- Driving for an off-campus event or field trip.
- Baking/cooking/serving food for a fundraiser
- Serving on an SLHS committee. Such as the “Gifts of Grace” event. again, see the Falcon Times.
- Snack shack for sports games
- Ticket sales for sports games.
- Baking for raffles at sports games
- Chain Gang for football games
- Decorating for dances and more!
TIME OR MONEY?:
If parents have limited time, they can assist with random purchases by signing up for our “Small Needs and Wants” program. Instead of getting reimbursed, they can exchange their receipts for PIP hours. The exchange rate is $15 for 1 PIP hour. This opportunity may be useful for purchasing groceries for an event, buying supplies for a dance, and other similar activities. These PIP opportunities may vary but will occur throughout the year. To claim your hours, please fill out the PIP form and then send an email with a screenshot of the receipt.
CLASS FUNDRAISERS:
Throughout the year, there may be fundraising opportunities for your students’ class. If such an opportunity arises, you will be contacted by the class advisor or your student about the need for volunteers. For more information, feel free to contact the class advisor at any time.
